Many years ago, North Macedonia did not have a university that was ranked among the first thousand on the Shanghai list. On the other hand, universities in Belgrade, Zagreb, and Ljubljana were ranked from 401st to 500th on that list last year. There is a hyper-production of colleges, but at the same time, more and more Macedonian students are going to study abroad.
