Thousands of citizens in North Macedonia, with the support of political parties and civil society organizations, have been protesting the French proposal on how to lift the Bulgarian veto and open the negotiation process for Macedonia’s EU membership. They demand the Government reject the proposal and not negotiate because, according to them, it would cost them their identity. The government, as well as the EU, claim the proposal is a good step forward and is the only opportunity for Macedonia to open such negotiations.
