The title “European Youth Capital” is awarded by the European Youth Forum to motivate young people, improve their living conditions, boost their participation in social life, and enhance the European identity of cities. In February of this year, Skopje, supported by the National Youth Council of Macedonia and various other organizations, began preparing its bid for the European Youth Capital 2027. Although the city reached the finals, interest from the local government inexplicably waned, leading youth organizations to withdraw their support in protest.
