MENSTRUAL POVERTY, A TABOO SUBJECT?

The average woman spends about 2,000 euros on menstrual products in her lifetime, and according to the American organization “Days for Girls”, over 500 million women and girls around the world cannot afford pads. “Menstrual poverty” is a reality experienced by about 20 percent of women in the world. Last year alone, two-thirds of low-income women in the U.S. could not afford sanitary products, and nearly half sometimes had to choose between buying food or pads.
