The countries of former Yugoslavia are still facing the forces that Srđan Aleksić stood up against, say the organizers of the Srđan Aleksić Days. Srđan was a Bosnian Serb soldier who was killed by fellow Serbs while defending his Muslim neighbor. This event is focused on authentic regional dialogue, bringing together journalists, researchers, activists, and artists dedicated to truth, courage, and solidarity. “In a region where countries often try to sweep crimes under the rug, reward the perpetrators, and punish those who speak the truth, the self-organized resistance of civil society remains the only true barrier to forgetfulness,” say the organizers.
