Since the beginning of the millennium, the world has witnessed 67 terrorist attacks on civilians. In the last 15 years, there have been 55 terrorist attacks. The most recent one happened in March in Moscow. Throughout history, it has been proven that citizens are ready to give up a part of their freedom to be safe. This is used by various authoritarian regimes, and much less often by those that are considered democratic, to limit the freedom of the media. Fear-mongering is proving to be a successful method of controlling citizens.
