HATE CRIME DOES (NOT) EXIST IN SERBIA

Institutions must do their job, said LGBT rights organizations following a series of attacks on members of the LGBT population since the beginning of this year. Serbia often does not react to attacks motivated by homophobia, and when it does, the qualification does not fully correspond to the crime committed. The Republic of Serbia has recognized hate crime as a criminal offense since 2012, but the state does not prosecute offenders under this article of the Criminal Code.
