The world is becoming more urban as fewer people continue to live in rural areas. Agriculture is more automated; opportunities are greater in urban centers. In the middle of the 20th century, 20% of the world’s population lived in cities, a statistic that has risen to 57% today. The predictions are that almost 70% of the world’s population will be living in cities by the middle of this century.
