The Macedonian public was shocked by the recent tragedy in which 31-year-old Ivana Jovanovska and her six-year-old daughter died after jumping from the terrace of their apartment. According to current information, from 2019 to March 2 of this year, Ivana was subjected to repeated to physical and psychological abuse by her husband, with whom she was in divorce proceedings. The violence was reported repeatedly, but the institutions failed to react. This tragedy comes amid a worrying rise in femicides in Macedonia in recent years.
