Skopje is once again among the most polluted cities in the world. Smog has been covering the capital for days, and citizens are breathing air with concentrations of PM particles far above the permitted level. A protest was held on January 31 under the slogan “Stop USJE,” during which citizens and activists accused the TITAN–USJE cement plant of being among the main sources of pollution. Protesters called for stricter oversight, transparent environmental measurements, and greater institutional accountability, stressing that public health must not be sacrificed for industrial production.
